Environmental Education at Primary Stage for Children, Bangladesh

Primary education is the basic and foremost right of every child. As a first step in the creation of welfare and just society, primary education is an absolute pre-requisite for sustainable development. Primary education may include counting, word formation and understanding of general ethics, norms and standards of knowledge around.

 

To protect the Environment, it is needed to teach the children why environment and Mother Nature is so important for our survival. Why we should plant more trees and protect them. Why we should not cut down trees widely. Our Environment Education program will teach the children about the nature. It will guide them the importance of trees and planting trees. It will grow affection into the children about the nature and trees and environment.

 

On the other hand, most of the children are disconnected from nature. Specially, in the city areas where there is no room for fresh air and closing to nature. Our program will bring the children towards the nature. They will spend time with nature and they can learn how a plant can grow. It will give their soft mind amazing experience.

 

The Contribution of the Work

Environmental Education at Primary Stage for Children program will contribute in the following ways:

1)     Children will learn about the importance and significance of environment and trees as a very early stage of their life.

2) Various story books with illustration on Environment have been written and published for children. They will be distributed among the children free of cost. As it says, a story have greater impact on human mind than any other means, it is the effective way to learn about environment. Why we need to protect the Environment for our own survival will be the key elements of the books.

3) Various competitions i.e. drawing competition, essay writing competition etc. will be organized among the children, so that they can feel about the Environment.

4) Children will go on site visiting with their parents in a farming site. There, children can observe and learn how trees can be planted and nurtured. It will make them closer to the nature and they will feel affectionate towards the trees.

5)     Short films will be made for environmental values, ethics and love of nature which will show before the children.

Project Site

Primary schools in the Dhaka, Bangladesh will be the main project site.

For site visiting, various tree nurtures’, and farming site around Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

Key activities

1)     Publishing story books with illustration on Environment for children.

2)     Distribute the books for free of cost among the children.

3) Organizing various competitions on Environment among the children i.e. drawing competition, essay writing competition etc.

4)     Class tour to any farming site where students can learn how a tree can planted and nurtured.

5)     Making short films on Environment.

 

Reasoning

For book publication, it is ultimate focus that children will learn about environment and they can be affectionate towards the nature. It is also important that, colorful illustration plays important role to children to learn. Top Bangladeshi writers will be involved in writing the books and also the professional artists will be engaged in drawing illustrations.

 

On the other hand, we will make short films which will also be written on environmental theme. The core ideas of the themes will create awareness among the children and parents.

 

Conservation Outputs

The protection of environment is the key in conservation output. And environmental education is significant part in the conservation system. If the education system can be applied among the children it will affect the soft mind and grow affection towards the environment. Children will grow with love and care for the nature. Education and environment both can be served as the same time.

 

Children with environmental knowledge can protect, preserve and restore the natural balance, the ecosystem and wildlife. They will grow as a conservationist.

 

Our project will not only engage the children, it will also have impact on the guardians of the children. They can also understand the environmental education. Apart from that, when children will bring to any farming site where they can see the actual way how a tree can plant and it grows and nurtured it will affect the soft mind of the children and grows the love towards the plant and environment.

 

Conservation importance

As it was quoted that, environmental education provides important opportunities for students to become engaged in real world issues that transcend classroom walls.  Environmental education benefits students, schools, and our larger world.

 

The program will benefit the humankind and in a greater sense it will help the children to grow with the love of nature.
